New Every Morning

See Psalm 5:1-3

Darkness giving way to gentle light is the hint of warmth and hope that is the dawning of a new day. We awake as the rising sun paint the earth in vibrant colors, and we rise to expectations of new opportunities and chances. But we should never attack the new day; rather, we should embrace it because God wants us to begin by acknowledging and appreciating him and all the benefits he provides us with. (Psalm 103:1-13)

For me the new day is built on the foundation of the Word of God. At this point in my life, I will accept no substitutes. I must spend part of my morning setting aside part of an hour reading in the Bible as well as other related books. On some days, I seem to get very little out of these readings, while on others, several thoughts will enter my mind as I read from a psalm or one of the Gospels. Whatever the case might be, I know that I have gained a great deal cumulative knowledge over time. And with every new day, I gain a greater appreciation and love of the book that shifted the focus of my heart and mind in an unexpected new direction.
